A London walk

We joined my maternal cousin Keith (who lives in London and has an Australian wife) for one of the famed 'London Walks'. The leader, Alison, spoke loudly and clearly and when asked a question, repeated the question loudly for all to hear--so good, which I cannot say for the post-Picasa photo editing tools which I have to use   and are truly pukeworthy.

The two hour walk was 'unexpected London' and lead us from Temple tube station and covered several statues of lesser known people who had changed the course of justice such as  Lady Henry Somerset, by being the first person, a woman,  to claim custody of a child and won.

She was rich and saw the tragedy of women whose children had been taken from them. They were rejected by polite society and often turned to drink so she started and funded the Temperance Society to try and help them.

Also  Statue to the man who first campaigned for compulsory infant education and a statue of John Stuart Mill.
