Air rifles and a good hike in the hills
friend returned Tony's air rifle this morning--relic of his mis-spent youth--so we immediately had target practice with empty beer cans and some thinner targets. I have to say I got three in a row first off.
Fortunately we had finished when a horserider went past on the adjoining road!
Then followed an all day walk in the Lakes area --for which the rain mercifully held off--although we did need shelter for lunch--in a derelict barn with a skeleton in it.
The wild flowers were delightful (we counted 10 varieties in one small area)--as was the scenery and there were village names typical of the area and stiles and wooded paths--all enchanting.
From one point we saw a steam train passing through a small village in a valley.
The day ended with a lovely meal cooked by Hilary and eaten in their 'special' dining room!
