Alison's Graduation

Alison's Graduation

Yesterday (Wednesday) we went with Alison and her family to her graduation from Charles Sturt University at Bathurst campus. Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) Honours. Alison was an external student and the University specialises in courses for non-campus students.

The second time we had been there for a graduation as daughter Jacqui also graduated from Charles Sturt about 12 years ago--when we attended her ceremony, the digital camera and 'blog' age was not yet in full swing --how quickly technology changes everything.

After 'her robing' we took pics and waited for the ceremony, which takes place in a large gymnasium. The University is relatively new, but the ceremony and garments worn are still  highly traditional, to the point where a 12th Century student from Oxford, transported there--would have known exactly what was going on!

We all felt very proud (and her immediate family very relieved!) as Alison met the Chancellor and returned with her certificate.

There were some 350 graduate awardees  and after the proceedings there were crowds of young people taking pics and throwing mortar boards in the air!

That night we went with John and Penny, for a meal in an Italian restaurant in Blackheath--Piedmont--which we highly recommend. Alison and family stayed overnight at 'Glenella' in Blackheath--a century-old guest house --with very well preserved decoration--which they would also recommend.
