An Ionian paradise
After just Saturday June 26th in London, spent with Doug and Jane, we left on Sunday June 27th with Michael for Lassi in Kefallonia -an Ionian island and the place made famous by the book 'Captain Corelli's Mandolin'. Michael who booked and prepaid the accommodation, was not pleased to find his 'room' was a pull-out bed in the tiny living area. The next day at a picturesque port town--Sami --Michael headed for the tourist office and asked for any rooms. In a few minutes we were meeting a very nice Greek couple and being shown a really nice apartment--pictured here---which we agreed, on the spot, to take! We spent the rest of the day on a stunning beach nearby in idyllic conditions -swimming in a warm clear blue sea, returning to the hotel to give them the news and leave after just one night there. Bad news for Michael--no refunds! That brings this blog to 7.00pm on Monday 28th June. As Michael didn't think they had 'hot spots' here he left his laptop at home, so this is from an internet cafe in Sami in 30 Deg C heat !
