Anniversary

An unwelcome 10 year anniversary of the Cronulla Riots, unfortunately well advertised by the press, attracted a potential far right demonstration group. A court order banned them, but a rival anti-racism march took place, with baclava clad protesters looking surprisingly menacing, carrying banners stating that only dead racists are good racists-which didn't seem a message of peace.

Anyway, 250 extra police were there and as we sat in Alley Break cafe, with our English relatives, we saw a procession of police bikes, horses, cars and street cops, pass by with the procession. Later there were riot vans --all looking like overkill.

The pics mostly taken from our cafe table, the last from the fish and chip shop!
