Ascot and a walk near Maidenhead

Time has been taken up with finding SIM cards--chasing round shops where I thought I'd left my 'phone behind (it was in my bag all the time!)  --walking between my cousin's house and Sydenham, shopping etc etc.

Anyway, yesterday I went by train to a station near Reading, where I met up with long-time friend Cliff for a 15 km walk through the country to the Thames and back. The train network is incredible and heavily used.

On the trip we passed by Ascot, in 'Ascot week' and some of the travellers allowed me to take pics of them (I think they were pleased to be asked!)

It was SO nice being out in the fields in Summer . Cliff had  brought his old catapult, so we amused ourselves in a wood, by proving our aim and range was still good!

We stopped at a lovely pub for quick drink.

If you cannot distinguish Cliff and I --it's because we both have 'Tilley' hats
