Aylesbury and Burnham, Stoke Poges

The best day of UK summer this year, so far!

The last few days have been spent with niece's family (playing with great niece Jamie, 4 years), watching cousin Valerie cut the grass with a huge mower, on her smallholding (I helped with a smaller version) while Mary trimmed a bush.

We visited schoolfriends in Stoke Poges (famous for the tomb with Grey's Elegy and where I did a night-hike as a scout) and walked in Burnham Beeches.

Burnham Beeches is a very extensive,  ancient and beautiful woodland area, near Slough- another National treasure.

The sign for the woods seems to advertise the Coat of Arms of London, more than the woods.

In the pub I found a beer named after me and a great saying, held by my earliest friend, scout colleague and college associate--Clifford.

At the entrance to the woods, a sign indicating how to get an admirer to abandon you in the forest!

The three of us under the parasol include schoolfriend Chris and wife Jennifer, at their house in Stoke Poges and view of some of their extensive lawns- which I did NOT offer to cut!

Tomorrow--hopefully--the church where Govenor Philip is buried--maintained by the Oz Govt.
