Bantham
The first day since May 31st we have been entirely on our own. We walked the 5 mile coast path to the village of Bantham then returned via the Village Inn pub at Thirlstone--stopping for a pint!
This is our 4th visit to Hope Cove in about 8 years and the flowers on the wall outside the pub, never fail to impress--after the second pint! The pub is very old, boasting timbers dating 1000years old. We took pics of a couple of designs of English 'styles' for getting over walls and some of English holiday makers on the beach--making a brave job of their summer holiday in typical English summer weather. One pic is of a local fishing shed--in active use each day.
On the way back we passed the lifeboat 'recent rescues' board (mostly kayakers!) and took a pic typical of the narrow lanes surrounding us --these are two-way lanes! One house with a Peugeot in the drive had a 'no parking' sign entirely in French (Brittany not far away?)
