Beach scenes

The weather today being changeable we shopped in Kingsbridge then walked the foreshore back at Hope Cove.

The rock formations along this coast are fascinating and include a major shift in geological history across  years- there being a major change from a reddish soft soil to a harder dark rock and then again to a sort of sedimentary composite.

I'm sure  seagulls on the wall  explained it to me after I had been drinking in the pub for  some time (!).

Nearby are the items used by local fishermen each day

and the origin  of the lifeboat station

plus a plaque marking the fishermen's reading room.

Even the splicing on the gate catch rope, showed evidence of the local skills with ropes.

The decrepit looking telephone box houses a 'phone that actually works.

On a public bench, there was a dedication plaque that caught my attention and I 'googled' the man named there. He certainly appears, but with little free detail and my curiosity seems to have been shared by a twitter user as well.
