We drove to nearby Berkhampstead Castle, now a ruin but formerly the place where conquerering Guillaume from France officially received the defeat of the Anglo Saxons in 1066. The castle remained in royal hands, but was pillaged for stones in the C16th. It is now in the hands of English Heritage.

Our local gallery , Hazelhurst, run by the council, hosted the year 12 indigenous art display which opened on Sunday with appropriate indigenous dances in Aboriginal costume . There were about 4o entries on display, all very good and some were for sale. The ones we liked had already been sold unfortunately.
