Bestwood Lodge reunion

Our Coffee Pot members from 40 years ago met in Bestwood Park Manor Lodge, a Royal hunting lodge dating back to the 1300's. On the Saturday night we ad a meal and were entertained by reminiscence and songs and a speech given by yours truly.

The lodge was a magnificent old building set in a grand estate. In the grounds is the great colliery winding wheel of Bestwood colliery, one of our customers in my Celtite days, where we supplied dynamite and resin roof support systems. All long since abandoned along with Britain's mighty coal industry.
