Bob in a bog in Bob's blog and Lady Jane Grey
In beautiful Bradgate Park, near Charnwood Forest, Leics, is the ruin of a castle where Lady Jane Grey was born in the 1500's. She was known as a highly intelligent young woman. By virtue of her (pursuaded) marriage to a member of the French Royal family, she was crowned Queen of England. A series of political plots followed with the tragic result that she was beheaded nine days later.
First--the light rain on the sodden ground, put me in a bog or three............amongst the wild snakes...........plus some warnings..to set the ambiance. There is also a nearby 'folly' said to be shaped like a beer tankard.
The deer in the park are said to be the original 'true' native deer and the 'prettiest' in England........
