Box Hill, Rowledge and the pub!!

Leaving Ashtead for Rowledge took us past Box Hill (mentioned in Jane Austen's books) --where we did a walk down to the flooded  River Mole through a yew forest--quite rare and visited the National Trust centre for a cup of tea.

The Olympic cycle ride will go through here and the preparations are well in hand, taking over the car parks etc. We came across a dog breed called a 'Leonburger' --according to the owners.

We arrived at Rowledge, passing a brilliant exampleof Tudor house and chimneys-- and after a short walk though to Frensham Ponds, where we came across a 'permissive horse ride' (!?) Robert (Green)  suggested we visit the pub for an hour--I thought he'd never ask--been waiting 2 years for this. The picture shows Robert talking to barmaid Elisha--who he seemed to know very well!
