Chichester, Emsworth, Isle of Wight,Selsey and Petworth
From London we went to stay with lifetime family friend Myra and husband Trevor at Emsworth for 5 nights. From there we visited Chichester Cathedral with it's Chagall stained glass window, Bosham Church-with a Saxon baptismal font and where king Harold visited and king Canute's daughter is buried, the IOW by hovercraft, had a barge evening on the Chichester canal and visited Petworth House (current home of Lord and Lady Egremont) and the enchanting village of Petworth. The Egremont family dynasty has occupied Petworth House for 900 years! We saw a 'thatcher' at work at Bosham.
First Chichester, which was a frequent ((enchating) holiday destination in my childhood. It was also the home of the founder of the City of Adelaide! I stayed in the same tiny medieval street. It boasts one of the fines Roman market crosses in the UK. I love the place to bits! It has the most expensive property in the UK.
