Claydon House,Winslow and visitors

Home of the Varney family even today, Claydon house is open to the public and we met Australian friends John and Judy there, for a day out together. The recently released film "Far from the Madding Crowd" was shot at this location. Pics not allowed inside, but I did get one of John posing as Lord Varney in a chair and a ceiling and dome, plus ornate woodwork on magnificent staircase. The entry token was a piece of jigsaw each! Very quaint.

We also saw one of England's finest examples or perpendicular church architecture, All Saints, in a church started 1000 years ago and rebuilt in the 1500's.

There are several Cromwellian musket-shot holes in the main door,  include a pic of one hole. There is also a bell tower with the ringers' 'order' on the wall.

We also saw the exquisite town of Winslow (the book and film "The Winslow Boy"). There is a fire insurance plate dated 1700's in one pic, on the outside of a house of that era.
