Coniston and walk around Tarn Hows

In good weather we (Mary Myself, Tony and Hilary) set out in a Volvo, from Underbarrow to do the walk around Tarn Hows, passing some magnificent trees in the grounds of Monk Coniston Hall, a breed of cows called 'belted Galloways' for self-evident reasons, as wellas 'normal' cows.

In the forest, couples had embedded coins in old tree trunks, some spectacularly dense, to mark where they had 'plighted their troth' or similar!

Have a look at the entry from the daughter at Monkton Hall!

The area is south central Lake District--very impressive scenery.
