Cycle training course in Sydney
The City of Sydney Council run a cycle training programme to encourage road use by cycle riders. I found out about it as I was invited to take part in a public health study of the benefits of cycling for older people. As part of a group of 10 people, we were given on-road training and safe-behaviour advice and techniques for cycling in city traffic. We all enjoyed it and felt more confident at the end of the course. During the 5 hour session, we cycled to Central Station, by some very attractive side-streets and parks. We took our own bikes.
The under-cover area we used used for basic skills, was taken over as we left, by a mob in training to do a 'flash-dance'--one of these inpromptu SMS events.
