Dalpura Canyon - Blue Mountains
I left at 6.00am and met cousin John at Blackheath--we began walking with 10 other members of the bushwalking club at 9.00am, to look at the route. Just for once, someone else was taking pics so most of these are not mine.

I knew it would be 'different' from other bushwalks when we left the path after 5 minutes and began 'bush bashing' down to Dalpura Canyon!
The Blue Mountains are riddled with these deep canyons, some which require abseil access.
I had no idea what I was in for, but fortunately was fully prepared, as it turned out.

A surprise was to discover that the leader, Kate, must have sat in the same exam room, same year, for the same final exams as myself, at London University. Amazing.
I knew we would be knee deep in water, but at one point, we had to swim. My internal drysack, came in very useful and someone kindly held my boots out of the water on a pole!

There were some stunning reflected light effects on the canyon roof-looking like the aurora borialis

We had lunch on the top of an outcrop but left soon after as a storm approached. We got a bit wet on the way back. I was surprised to see people getting umbrellas out--I had a gortex.
