Dinosaurs and fossils

Swanage and Lulworth are of great interest as a Jurassic site, from the age of Dinosaurs, a few of which still roam about......

Lulworth Cove chalk cliffs are  a mine of fossils, which played a great part in the development of modern geology and lead to the area being declared a World Heritage site. Literally hundreds of schoolchildren go on field trips there, some from schools established centuries ago.

The only fossils today were Mary and I........in the company of our niece Alex......but in the bright summer sun, it all looked so attractive. Alex helped keep the famous Lulworth 'arch' in place!

England is awash with 'pay and display' car parking units--as shown below. While this would cause a riot in Australia, it has the dvantage  that the revenue s allow a lot more social amenity to be provided, leading to a higher level of civic pride--so adds to a sense of being in a society, rather than just an economy.

The colourful Jubilee bunting persists. Our day finished with a  sandboat on the beach, where we met a young family speaking both English and French to their children. They live in Paris and the husband has learned French so well that he now runs his own accounting practice there. Their 5 year-old separates the languages well.
