Emsworth, Portsmouth, guns, tennis and sun!

Emsworth, on the S. Coast, is a typical sailing/retirement mix of people, in an old village setting, with a lovely natural harbour.

Today there was some sun ans we paid a brief visit to Portsmouth, to visit Gunwharf Key-a very fashionable shopping centre and the M& S outlet -of course. Portsmouth is very much a working Naval Base and they fired a large  midday gun in our honour, as we admired the space-age tower there. There is also a plaque commemorating Govenor Philip, who is buried in the Cotwolds.

We enjoyed a very nice English roast lunch back in Emsworth before settling down to watch Andy Murray lose to Federer, but Mark Webber win for Australia!

There are some pics of the back garden and then Emsworth harbour. The streets are deserted as we went out for a walk, during the tennis match.

Yes--we did look in an estate agent's window--'Gascoigne Pees'--very English, don't you agree?

I feel very at homein this place, having spent a lot of holidays on the S. Coast and isle of Wight.
