Francophonie day

Francophonie day

On the same day as the kayak trip below there was a small celebration of World  Francophonie Day at the bilingual primary school that we helped establish and continue to support.

It was a jolly little affair attended by about 30 people including the French Consul General for Australia--pictured in blue suit and a lovely French singer, Christelle , also pictured. French Champagne flowed freely as did some tasty delicacies, such as Bordeaux cakes and several real French cheeses. All organised by the very enthusiastic French staff at the school and parent helpers.

The director general of education for NSW attended, as did some high local school principals and language teachers interested in forming links with the school.

The whole project has been a satisfying success--at last--it took years, as these things do.

It took place on a small patio , fortunately covered as at the end the sky opened on us !
