Genteel Salcombe and Overbeck House

First a pic from our doorway towards other cottages, which I thought somewhat artistic.  I include a photo of the lady who owned it in 1895 standing outside the same door!  Incredible.

Salcombe is the very essence of the genteel English riverside town that

wants to say 'British and proud of it' !

So many high class shops --even the pubs--no 'Slug and lettuce' signs here--The King's Arms or Fortesque; even the standard notice signs are written in last century English. Including the humble  Post Office .Even the bakery has a coat of arms and the pigeons drop a royal purple blue poo!

We walked the length of it, arriving at North Sands just in time to catch a really weird ferrying contraption which rumbled down the sand into the sea where we transferred to the incoming ferry boat, taking us back to town and our car park. Memorable.

We then drove back to the other end again and went into the NT property of Overbeck with lovely gardens, views,  interesting house and the ubiquitous NT tearooms.

Finally--wasps caught in a 'sweet' trap, on the wall of a pub!
