Goulburn and other bits
A pic of our garden roses again--such a wonderful bloom and several altogether.
Our band went about 160Kms south to Goulburn for a performance at the Conservatorium there for two days. Goulburn is old in Australian terms and has several fine buildings including the original Town Hall shown here and a very well stocked war memorial garden complete with rotunda. I had an obscenely generous 'granola bowl ' for breakfast in a flashy cafe near the motel. Obscenely expensive too. Would have fed a refugee family of six for a week.
There'll be a pic of the band there, sent to me soon, I hope!
Oh, at our Probus club that week, we also had an excellent talk on submarines by a very senior Australian naval marine architect and historian .
He knew amazing detail about subs right back from 1900 and also understands nuclear subs (very hot topic in Australia right now) so we came away very well informed indeed.
The pic of me in my kayak is utterly gratuitous!
