Govenor Phillip and Bathampton

Today we drove through enchanting Cotswold countryside to Bathampton, birthplace and resting place of Govenor Phillip, at St Nicholas' Anglican Church. The fittings and some upkeep of the church are maintained by the Australian govt and the wood fittings are Australian native timber.

The stained glass windows in that part of the church include the coats of arms of all the Australian States.

We met schoolfriends Mike and Judith as well as Rob and Lucy, from Caringbah, now working in  Bristol for EDF. The picture includes a lot of bunting--used for both the Olympic celebrations and also a church Kids' Holiday Club.

There a is the lovely River Avon there as well as a canal, with holiday barges on it; even a barge 'garage'!

Mary spotted a (returning?) hot-air  ballon basket on a trailer on the motorway.
