Hughenden Manor

This will be my third blog on Hughenden( see Hughenden 2015, 2016) and this time we spent more time in the church on the property, which has an almost unbroken list of a mere 50 vicars, dating from 1190--over 800  years --some vicars serving almost 70 years. The 'breaks' would have been plague years. The font may be Saxon. I find that sort of historical continuity fascinating to contemplate. The use of English in services would have been a very recent thing, taking the whole history into account.

The cemetry is very well maintained and still in use.
