Isle of Hvar, Jelsa
Before we reached Hvar island from Mljet, the boat stopped and we jumped from the boat into the sea and swam to an island. Michael did a very deep dive to the seabed (worrying!). Others who discovered that I had a waterproof camera, asked for pics as well.
Shelley-from Florida--had brought her ukelele.
A couple on the cruise, David and Susannah are Croation journalists, David now working for Reuters and a also an expert in English, Susannah now working for pharma industry, who have been able to explain the complex history of this region and negotiate with bus drivers!
We stayed at Hvar for a second night because a possible storm prevented us from moving on. The storm didn't arrive, however.
In the town was a pink-clad French band from Grenoble who played in town and even in the water!
We went from Jelsa to the main town of Hvar by bus, where we climbed to an ancient hillforte pic below!) where Michael decided to climb onto the outer wall and we had a meal with Clara and Marie before dark.We returned after 10.00pm
