It's not what you know...
Tuesday 29th-- a day spent at another splendid beach -Myrtos, close to this port town of Sami--which has a 3000 year old history. We are driving a four-door Ford Focus --quite adequate for us.We visited Aghia Efimia and Myrtos and Michael and mary did a hill-top walk--in great heat.
Wednesday 30th--Assos--surely the most exquisitely picturesque village and bay on the island--the profusion of multicoloured bougainvilleas at their best --but not a real beach to swim from. We also went to Fiskardo. At Sami and around here we have lost the package English tourist (unkindly labelled 'chavs') to be found in droves at Lassi--mostly Italian, Greek, German, French here. We are very impressed with our spacious flat here--it's huge with really good bedrooms and large bathroom. Nicos and wife Elena only rent to recommended people--he doesn't advertise--so we will keep his address for those interested. It is still not 'luxury' --for those of you only seeking 4 star accomm--but brilliant for most people we know who rent flats overseas. There is TV here -- can anyone tell me why the audiences in Greece throw screwed up paper balls at Greek folk-singers they seem to like-even in 'posh' venues?
