Note--Cyprus--I have not received any pics from our friends--pleas forward and I will add to the blog.

After one night with cousin Valerie at Aylesbury, we set out on the infamous M6 for Underbarrow, near Kendal in the Lake District, where our friends Tony and Hilary live in a beautifully converted ancient stone barn, on a 2 acre garden.

On the way we stopped at a service station, to eat the rolls that Valerie had kindly prepared for us,  with a pond and crested ducks and coots etc. We noted that ervice stations all seem to have gambling machines now, located next to an ATM.

The house and 2 acre garden are in a beautiful setting and we immediately started with some local walks, with their dogs, Yogie and Dan. One stone wall in a yew forest had a near-total covering of moss.

Finally, in Arnside, in showers and sunny periods,  we indulged in an ice cream (thunder and lightening flavour!) and contemplated the warning sign about the tides. It apears just a simple precaution--but this is where many Chinese immigrant cocckle pickers were swept to their death a few years ago,  because their supervisor kept them working after the safe working time.

We also met up with two daughters--Anna and Fiona--both heavily pregnant (Both due October) and their existimg children, Amelie, Kiara and Nile. Both Anna and Fiona have stayed with us in Sydney while backpacking in Australia (although Anna liked Cronulla and Northies so much she stayed 3 months!!
