Leaving England
Yesterday my Venture Scout Leader from Harrow, Lewis, made a brief visit and we enjoyed a walk and chat for an hour and today friends Mike and Vicky arrived for an hour.
As we leave tonight, it is time to say thanks to so many people.
In Australia, to our cat Boots, who has enslaved our house-sitting friend Holly and set new unachievable standards of cat care, and to our garden dinosaur, who has been mischieviously mis-informing Dianka about garden care!
Thanks to Matt, who has kept our cars under surveillance (we think!), Roger, who has kept us up to date with local news.
In England, thanks to Jacqui and Tom for their hospitality and organising the holiday in France--in the only week of hot weather we have had--good timing! Thanks to Michael for the Bike ride and a big thanks to Rilla and Shirlaw for the loan of a car for two months--so generous. To Clifford for the GPS that ensured we didn't get the car lost and also taking us to Heathrow today.
To our sister-in-law Irene, who booked the house in North Devon and to niece Philippa and family for showing us their favourite Devon places.
To Susie and Ian for letting us use the cottage in South Devon again this year and to Tony and Hilary for their hospitality in the Lakes. To Roger and Barbara for the night in Stathern --and stunning garden and Geoff and Patsy for the night (and meal) in Ringwood. To Ann and John for a stay in Ashtead --and their beautiful garden. To Myra and Trevor for the liver and bacon in Emsworth
To cousins Keith and Valerie--Keith for storing my box of clothes for past year and Valerie for taking them on now!
To all the many friends and relatives that we spent time with and with apologies to any we could not get to this time.
Finally a big thanks to grandson Louis, for attracting us here and for his wise advice to his parents that they should move to a nice house in Prestwood, in the Chiltern (Inspector Morse) countryside.
For those of you who check this blog frequently, this will be the last blog from here, and for about a week or so, barring unexpected interesting sights on the way home, so take a break -I do appreciate your interest and I feel encouraged by you, when it is challenging to complete.
