London bike ride

We travelled with Michael to his flat, by train, astonished at the bike numbers parked at rail stations.

When Michael told us he had registered us for a cycle ride through central London, next day,we thought we were on a suicide mission, but Mayor Boris (who we met in 2010 on his own bike (see pic) had cleared central London for the weekend for cyclists.

So we went by bus

terminating at an improvised beach/rugby court (!)

and collected our 'Boris' bikes to join 94,000 others on tour of central London. Initially, we were on busy roads-scary-

then on to barred roads, amongst families and couples and singles-passing well-know sights-St Paul's, Admiralty arch, gold leaf statues at Buck House--one girl even had a gold coloured helmet!

Over Waterloo Bridge

past, Houses of Parliament--quickest tour of London--ever.

There were course marshalls everywhere. The ride finished at 4.00pm and traffic returned at 6.00pm

We snacked at Somerset House, where I couldn't resist going into the fountains --funny that.
