Louis' 9th Birthday and whale watch station
Which took place yesterday in the scout hall, with nine friends. Jacqie and Caryl had planned and ran several games.
We visited the new 'whale watching station' at Cape Solander, Kurnell with Kris Mike and Lachie. It took ages to complete but the result is architecturally pleasing, with wave shaped roofing and six sub-lookouts without cover but are curved balconies.
We did several whale 'spout' sightings but catching them on cameras is difficult.
The simple sketch of the aboriginal looking out at the arriving first fleet ship "Endeavor" says it all really.
Captain Cook had written orders to say that he was to report the land was unoccupied, which he did, so no attempt was ever made to enter into a treaty. So here we are 230 years later about to vote this year on a referendum to actually acknowledge in our constitution that there WERE people here! And there's a 'no' campaign saying it would be 'dangerous' to include them,----- --for heaven's sake...................indigenous people are only 4% of the population!
