Marsaxlokk and St George Day scouts in Valletta

We took the buses via Valletta to the pretty fishing village of Marsaxlokk. What they don't tell you, is that , like Kurnell in Sydney, it's hemmed in by, not an oil refinery but a power station and the container port terminal!

It was market day, so very busy and it was also pretty, with the highly coloured fishing boats and not an outboard motor in sight (or sound).

Traditionally, the boats have painted small 'eyes' on them to ward off the 'evil eye', but not many bother these days.

StG. eorge's Day is very important in Malta--a bit like Anzac Day in Aust /NZ, which is less well known in the UK and as it is tomorrow, there were huge scout parades in central Valletta, most of which we had missed!
