Oxford, Harrow and a concert

Yesterday we drove to Oxford to see a neighbour,June, from our Nottingham days. I was reminded that it was June's husband Ron, who played the oboe as a hobby, who suggested that I try the clarinet after playing recorder to encourage Alison and Caryl. Nothing remarkable except that Ron was the development chemist at Boots Pharmaceutical where they invented and developed Ibruprofen and Ron went on to manage worldwide production of this new pain killer.

Ron had studied chemistry at Jesus college , Oxford, so June took us into the college grounds, the dining hall  and the chapel.

Next we paid  a visit to my old house in Harrow. I have kept up contact with the owners, Pat and Arran, and they have made the house very modern and been grateful for the improvements that my father worked so hard on.

In the evening we went to a concert by a local choral society in an Anglican church in Kenton, that is so 'high' that they have a picture of the Pope on the wall--seemed very strange.
