Chiltern Steam Show

Linking pics of our departure from France, yesterday.

By good chance, this weekend is the Chiltern Steam and Vintage vehicle show, across three recreation fields that we could easily walk to. Literally hundreds of machines.

There were tractors, road rollers, farm baling equipment, powered log cutting wheels (very unsafe!), engines, even one with a NSW farm plate on it, motorbikes, including the infamous and feared BMW German WWII bike and side car, used by the Weirmacht army, working steam models a beer tent and caravans- all polished to perfection.

The community police were trying to interview the underage teddy bear at the wheel of a remote control car and there were displays of old trades and tools as well as bric-a-brac and clothes.

The coal smoke pervaded everything and gave an authentic air to the whole show.

The spectators were as interesting as the owners of all the exhibits.

There was a tall, very masculine young lady (or feminine man) interviewing the parading bike riders, who seemed very well informed on bike history. Above it all, floated a Red Kite --waiting to pounce on any accidentally dropped sausage!
