Quimper, Roscoff and the ferry

Christiane very kindly drove us through Quimper to Roscoff. We arrived at Quimper just as everything was closing for lunch-even the cathedral--so we did not see much except the streets--which are very attractive--with displays of their famous pottery or 'faience'.

We expected Roscoff to be a typical 'dingy' old port town--but it is a most attractive fishing village--again with very old, clean, small buildings, a delightful church and and many flower beds. The first hotel we went into generously offered to let us leave our bags in their office and use their toilets. We were very relieved, as we had 7 hours to wait!

The Breton culture is VERY strong in Roscoff, as the pics show--all the names are in Breton and the language is spoken here.

We had some very nice crepes in a small cafe and the waitress set the alcolholic one alight! I think you can see the flames.

She agreed to have her picture as well, on the blog. I forgot to ask her name.

The ferry 'Armorique'was on time and the cabins very comfortable and convenient--with ensuite shower and toilet. A group of very excited young  French school students were also on board.

I am using WiFi on the ferry now -for an hour-so may not get all pics on now--some later.
