Rydalwater, Natlands and Whitbarrow

Driving to friends Tony and Hilary, from Kendal via Grasmere, we stopped for a stroll around Lake Rydalwater. A 'quick' diversion to a nearby peak lead  us into undergrowth--can you spot Mary walking through the ferns, in this first pic?

She was not amused to be left behind! Breaking forth later on, you can see her holding up her scratched arms. We  also saw a huge cave with shallow water in it.

In Grasmere is the National Trust's smallest property--Bridge House, straddling a small river, with 'one up' and 'one down'. It goes back to about 1500. It's tiny.

We enjoyed a tea break in Grasmere.

The next day we visited Anna (who  had stayed with us in Australia) and her family in an ultra-modern home in a village-Natlands.

Later, from Underbarrow, we went to Whitbarrow for a walk with the dogs, where Hilary found a slow -worm (legless lizard).
