Split and Krja

A longish (1.25 hrs) coach ride out of Splits town to the (Dolomite?) hills.

The limestone geology leads to a lot of underwater streams as it does in Provence and elsewhere and thence to waterfalls and pools of opalescent blue.

The Krja national park is just such a valley and has had winding wooden paths laid through forested areas opening out onto many falls and pools, which contain a single breed of fish

but they're everywhere and very clear too.

In reality there's just one major falls which is large and very photogenic.

There are food an souvenir stalls dotted tastefully along the route and a small old mill.

The most surprising thing was the, now rusted, hydroelectric turbine based on designs by no less than  Tesla himself. This one was opened by Tesla and was the first in Europe.

The temperature was 38 Deg C so walking, even under some tree canopy cover, was very laborious.
