Start Point Lighthouse

Start Point is one of the most rugged parts of the UK coastline and a scene of many shipwrecks in  past years.

The walk from Beesands (should be called 'Beepebbles'!) to the lighthouse was about 4 miles and at the end we -very rashly--climbed a chain upa steep path to a pinnacle where a gale was blowing from the other side--it was quite scary --then we realised we had to get down again!

We managed it and were revivd at the end of the walk by tea and cake at a beachside shop which sold fish--directly caught from the sea. It was a very small resort--very 'upmarket', judging by the accents of the visitors!

Tomorrow we leave for Swanage and a week where we are hosting nieces, nephews, partners,  great nieces and nephews and the matriarch of them all-- sister-in-law.
