Stathern White Cottage and Stowe House

We set the Satnav to 'fastest' route to Nottingham and endured 3 hours of motorway 'truck terror' and on return next day, set it to 'direct' route and enjoyed three hours of calm, beautiful country driving without a motorway in sight! Friends Roger and Barbara occupy a 1780's sprawling network of house and outbuildings. There are rooms and doors in surprising places and very thick walls --it's all charming. The half acre garden is a sheer delight. Other friends, Hilary and Geoff, joined us for the day and we enjoyed a pub lunch together. On return, the next day, bythe country route, we stopped at Stowe House for lunch. Anyone remember Tizer?
