Storm at sea

The extreme weather event continues and now a cargo ship stricken with engine failure was adrift and at risk of smashing into our local shoreline until a Sydney tug came to tow it further out. A swell of 8 metres made it a difficult operation and at one stage the tow rope broke. Other tugs came to the rescue and the ship is expected to be stable  enough by tomorrow morning for engineers to board and effect some repairs.

Another small yacht was washed up on a local beach. Almost all the sand has disappeared from our local beaches and there is substantial coastal erosion.

Our recent PM ( a climate change denialist)  has his home and office near here.  I imagined a scene where he requests his political office staff to organise a  a party on his favourite Cronulla beach only  to be told that they couldn't,  because all the beaches have disappeared due to climate change exaggeration of storm damage! He's no longer our PM, thank goodness.

Undeterred by the gale force winds and lashing rain, three of our Tuesday walking group set out and managed most of the distance before reviving ourselves in a local friendly Nepalese cafe.
