Taronga Park Zoo

Taronga Park Zoo

The drive there along the M8 and WestConnex roads was horrendous, with all the twists, turns and lane changes.

A couple of years ago  son Michael oversaw a major reconstruction of the zoo. He moved on to Newcastle before it was completely finished and this was the first time he’d been back, so he was interested to see how it looked.

It's difficult to take images of entire structures due to quick changes in levels etc. There were also many suspended walkways.

Knowing the place in detail, he was best person to know the  zoo directions, settings  and cafes etc.

The Sydney skyline backdrop was quite a feature too.

There was a ‘seal’ show which excited Lachie.

There was also an good bird show but pics were difficult to time.

A lot of creative effort has gone into presentation, eg the mock aircraft taking you Sumatra to see the  tigers .

I have a dislike of seeing large roaming animals in small spaces so didn’t take many pics  of them, and have made more of the reptiles.

We finished the day with dinner at Mosman Rowers’ club.
