Terrace Walk Falls and Lawson's Creek
Today I joined 9 members of the Upper Blue Mountains Bushwalking Club (UBMBWC) at Lawson. The Terrace walk went through a lot of waterfalls and the distances between them presented many hazards and challenges. However, the weather was perfect and our Leader John D, was brilliant.
As well as having actually rediscovered (by hacking through the overgrowth) one of the lost tracks from the late 1890's--and built with huge community effort- with his two teenage sons in 1986, he had an intimate knowledge of the flora and fauna. Far from being lost in his own world of historical knowledge, he was continuously attentive to the spread of the group, people's condition and the need to take pictures along the way. A real professional (unpaid!). Thank you John, for an excellent day out.

At the last waterfall, a nymph appeared on a rock by the fall--at least I think that what she was.
We finished with a walk to a magnificent hanging swamp--overhanging a very high cliff, with roots almost reaching to the ground.

Ten keen members met at 9am adjacent the old golf course Wilson St Lawson for this iconic walk. Richard Florczak; Glyn Hubbard; Sunny; Rahm; Peter Hayhew; Karen Jones; John Murray; Joe Dunn; Bob Head & myself headed off under clear skies for our adventure in the great Australian bush. We made our way via two tracks to South Lawson firetrail & down via the historic track to Hazelbrook, where the wattle was in abundance, until we came to start of the Terrace Falls track. At 10.20 we had morning tea over looking the valley of Victor Falls, while admiring the scenery below we had the pleasure of seeing a beautiful Cuckoo Dove fly onto a tree nearby for all to see & enjoy. Then we set off to visit Victor & Terrace Falls where we enjoyed these beautiful waterfalls. Next we carefully made our way along the old Western Track, while admiring the lovely scenery below in the gorge, until we reached Picnic Point. Then made our way along Bedford Creek til we reached the junction on Lawson Creek & crossed over to the old camping area. After a drink we made our way up Lawson Creek for 1 hour & 40 minutes to Leslie Falls where we stopped for lunch, while enjoying the falls. After sawing off several branches of a fallen tree adjacent the waterfall to make a safe climb up & over the cliff ledge, we continued onto Federal Falls & the South Lawson walking track. Then onto Junction & Adelina Falls where we viewed a magnificent hanging swamp, finally we climbed out of the reserve, finishing the walk at 2.45pm. We had a great group & really enjoyed our adventure & time together.
