The week so far

During the week, torrential rain devastated a local village, Draguinan, causing about 30 lost lives there. We saw the state of the town a few days later. In Aups we had incredible rain (great to have our Gortex and water-proof trousers!) but it was all shortlived and most of our week was in warm sunshine as we toured around.

At the end of the week, June 21st, Tom and Jacqui returned to Nice as we took a bus from Brignoles to Aix en Provence where the mother of a French friend of ours, Capucine, in Sydney  had arranged a student flat for us in the heart of the old town--which is the epitome of of an ancient French University town. We were part of two night time festivals--music night that same night and Fete de St John --marked by the city fires and traditional costumes and dancing in the streets.
