Unfortunate end to an expedition
Today we hired bikes in Annecy for a lakeside ride. All was well until after our lunch break at plage Joriot, with very few people around, when Craig came down a small bridge, braked and fell sideways onto his wrist. He was immediately in excruciating pain and unable to move. As we were considering first aid options, a lady approached, who offered help and who was completely bilingual. Such a help. She called the SAMU and they arrived within minutes. She is the lady beside the ambulance, in Mary's pic of their arrival. Craig and Alison were taken to Metz hospital, where, after the obligatory hours of wait and an Xray, Craig was diagnosed with a radius fractured in two places, requiring surgery.
Right this moment, Craig has been told that a more serious case will precede his op and it may be tomorrow. We leave for Nice on Wednesday and it's Monday night here.
Not had a lot of luck with bike trips, this holiday!
After we had managed to return all bikes and Al and Craig had left in the ambulance, we walked around Annecy and had an ice cream.
