Update on Mary

At the end of last week Mary developed a cough and temperature.

The 'rules' for chemo are that you must report to casualty if you have an elevated temperature, so we did.

The oncologist was called and he ordered weekend in hospital.

It was the weekend of Mary's choir concert--for which she was fully rehearsed, but could not now participate--or even visit.

A friendly registrar oncologist in the hospital, decided that, as her temperature had come down, it would be beneficial for Mary to hear the concert--which she did.

She left hospital with a script for clarythromycin --a prophylactic precaution, but an antibiotic that causes nausea in some people, including Mary.

The last treatment, of 6, is this Wednesday and we are hoping it is not delayed by the remnant of infection.

Oncologist visit Thursday.
