Virus update

Hi family and friends interstate and overseas. I thought it a good idea to say where we are at.

Today the government announced a complete ban on non-essential gatherings. In my mind, that means most educational establishments, all community and social gatherings, group sports,  a big cut to food and drink places, reduced beach activity (that will be hard) and all internal holiday travel and  gatherings. About 7000 Australians a day are flooding home at the moment and some new virus cases are coming from them.

In fact at least two States, Northern Territory and Tasmania, have closed borders. That means the end of our Tasmanian holiday that we'd just paid for in advance! I wondered why they were so keen to get our money.

In all of Australia 8 people (all aged 75+) have died so far, from the virus (in addition to the approx 1000 who die every single day from age, illness or accident) and we have about 500 confirmed Corona cases nationwide.

For exercise, Mary and myself have kayaking, bushwalking in the National Park, cycling along some local bike tracks and swimming (in the sea or rock pools if the beach not crowded), so not too bad on that front.

For stockpiling I only bought some vegetable seed packets. (!?)

By way of black  humour I made up this--it sounds the same--Mocconavirus -is it the new pandemic?
