Visit to the ABC studios-Ultimo

The Sydney Bush walking Club organised a city walk, including a visit here.

We were shown around by a volunteer and saw the make-up and wig room, special effects room, live studios with Wendy Harmer on air and a separate one with Richard Vidler. There was a studio where the two presenters of 'Good Game' were about to do a recording of their next show.

We also saw the main big studio with an incredible number of lights and big banks of seats where they do Q and A, the book club, Gruen and other audience shows.

The props lift is enormous. When the architect asked how big it should be--they said 'big enough to hold an elephant (thinking of the UK programme Blue Peter?) . There has never been an elephant there, yet.

The City walk was through Ultimo, including an incredible Dr Chau Chak Wing  UTS building. It's truly unbelievable. Designed by some very famous architect. Contrast with the 19th C TAFE building down the road.

Also saw the new and futuristic Wynyard tunnel.
