Waddesden Manor

You can find prior blogs (throughthe search engine) with extensive pics of Waddesden, So I only took the main building (one the 43  Rothschild homes in the world, all on this scale!) and a recent renovation of a small dining room to a modern standard but still with lavish artistic talent evident. Lord and Baroness  Rothschild (who still supervise and probably for all this upkeep) maintain an extensive old and new art collection. In this case the chandelier.

They have also ventured into the wine industry, in France, and have maintained and even improved some aspects of quality with in-vinyard bottling.

The staff are all Royal Houshold trained and it really shows, especially in the cafe, where your choices are never questioned and when I mentioned that Mary'd soup wasn't hot enough it was immediately dealt with, with apology.

There was no request or opportunity  to tip. It's just 'not done'.

They support a loadof charities--just hope they pay tax as well!

We went with Jacqui , Tom, Louis and Max plus two friends from Preston, Sandy and Norman, who brought some nice things for Max and Louis.

In other news, Mary woke with a bad cold cold and cough this morning (my fault of course) so some plans may change.
