Walk in Epping and the Proms at Royal Albert Hall

Jacqui, Tom, Mary and myself were joined today in the mud...I mean  Epping, by Michael and Lishi.

We met Lishi for the first time today and very much enjoyed her company.

Timing was a bit of an issue and we were not all together on the walk, but made it for the important bit of the lunchtime meal at a nice pub, the Theydon Oak,  near where Mary's parents used to live. The meal was huge and very enjoyable. We were last there four years ago with Jacqui and Tom.

We had to dash back to London to leave again,  in time for the start of the performance at the Royal Albert Hall of tonight's Prom concert--Peleas and Melisande by Debussy. It is a real experience being  in the RAH.

I think I was last there to receive my degree form the Queen Mother, then chancellor of the U of London----they also  invited a load of other graduates as well, that day, so I had a lot of company.

The performance was in operatic form--very well performed, with very atmospheric music  but all in French and somewhat abstract and  philosophical, so we didn't quite see the end of it............anyway--the pics............and the one on the street was taken about 9.30pm.
