Whale watching!

An invitation at 10.00am from friend Adrian to go whale watching at once, was a great reason to cancel a routine  medical  appt and 11.00am found me recruited as a trainee at  the helm of the boat, as we trawled a fishing line along the coast out past Marley Beach, until we spotted a whale 'blowing'! Then it was full speed ahead to the open waters for pictures.

We then lazed around the boat for an hour, as blokes do, solving all the world's problems, and were about to head home when Adrian spotted far larger whales--but a lot further out. Another madcap dash to the site, where another boat was marking the spot. This pair were really active and breeching, tail-flapping--stroking--the lot. Pictures were difficult to capture but we managed a few good shots before racing for home --only running out of fuel once--in front of the Bundeena Ferry--Ooooppppsss.

The closest I have ever been to whales in the wild, in my life!

Finally back to the serenity of Burraneer Bay and Water Street wharf--thanks Adrian--it was great!
